Privacy Policy

This policy applies to SAKCarLog on Android (application ID ch.rpinfo.sakcarlog), published by RP Info (“we”). It describes the current local, offline version of the app, for Google Play and for people using SAKCarLog.

1. Who we are

SAKCarLog (Smart Automotive Kit – Car Logbook) is a digital logbook for motorhomes, camper vans, and converted vans, published under the Android application ID ch.rpinfo.sakcarlog by RP Info (“we”).

This policy describes how the current local, offline version of the app handles information. It is written for Google Play and for users of the app.

2. Core principle

SAKCarLog is designed to work without an account, without a SAKCarLog server, and without cloud synchronisation. Vehicle records, photos, documents, and backups you create stay on your device unless you export or share them.

We do not operate a SAKCarLog backend that receives your logbook data.

3. Information stored on your device

Depending on what you enter, the app may store locally:

Vehicle details (name, type, make, model, plate, VIN, mileage, technical specs, notes, photos).
Logbook data: maintenance, repairs, reminders, trips and stops, expenses, fuel, inventory, batteries, tires, checklists, incidents, journal entries, and useful contacts.
Documents you import (for example photos or PDFs of registration, insurance, or invoices).
App settings (language, units, currency, date format, selected vehicle, notification and lock preferences).
A lock PIN, stored as a hash, if you enable PIN lock.
An encryption key used to protect local storage, kept in the Android encrypted keystore / encrypted preferences.

Local databases and files are encrypted on the device. Clearing SAKCarLog data in Android settings, or using “delete all data” in the app, removes this information from that device.

4. Permissions

SAKCarLog may ask for:

Camera — to take photos of the vehicle, receipts, or documents. We do not access the camera in the background.
Photos / files (via the system picker) — to import images or PDFs that you choose. The app does not request unrestricted access to all files.
Notifications — reminders and document-expiry alerts that you enable.
Alarms / exact alarms — so reminders can fire at the time you set.
Run at startup — to reschedule reminder notifications after a reboot.
Vibration — with notifications, if the system allows it.
Biometric unlock — optional lock with fingerprint or face unlock. Biometric templates stay in the operating system; SAKCarLog only receives a success or failure result.

Opening a website, phone number, or email from a contact uses the apps you already have (browser, phone, mail). SAKCarLog does not upload those details to our servers.

5. Backups you export

You can export an encrypted backup (password of at least 8 characters) and share the file through Android (Drive, email, USB, and so on). After you share it, that copy is under your control and under the privacy rules of the service you chose.

We never receive your backup unless you send it to us yourself (for example for support).

6. What we do not collect

No SAKCarLog user account or sign-in.
No advertising identifier used by us for ads (the app has no ads).
No analytics or crash SDK operated by us in this version (no Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics in the app).
We do not sell your personal data.

Google Play and Android may process install, update, and device information under Google’s Privacy Policy. That processing is independent of SAKCarLog’s local logbook.

7. Children

SAKCarLog is meant for vehicle owners and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children’s data through a SAKCarLog account, because there is no account.

8. Your choices

Do not grant a permission you do not need (for example camera).
Disable notifications or biometric lock in the app or in Android settings.
Export or delete data from the app; uninstall SAKCarLog to remove the app and its local store from that device.

9. Changes

If a future version adds cloud sync, accounts, or third-party analytics, we will update this policy and the Play listing before those features go live.

10. Documentation website

This user guide (the pages you are reading) is a separate website from the Android app. It uses Matomo hosted at matomo.rpinfo.ch (site ID 9) to count page views and link clicks. That tracker does not receive your vehicle logbook. The SAKCarLog app itself still has no analytics SDK (see section 6).
